CTV/TMS Website

03.12.2008, 07:15

Although the Museum is currently closed to allow the track repairs at Wakebridge to be carried out - no doubt interrupted by this week's winter blast - there are many things going on with work being carried out by staff and volunteers on trams, infrastructure, buildings and in the warmth of the offices and Library buildings.

The website is being updated and the new version will go live in a few weeks. This will include a space for your topical photos. In the meantime the link to a selection of photos showing the work at Wakebridge can be found on the front page of the current site www.tramway.co.uk (sure you all know anyway!).

Further to this topic some excellent images of paintwork detail on Cardiff 131 have appeared on the Museum website too. It is going to look very sweet!

Photographs on CTV/NTM/TMS website

17.12.2008, 20:57

Hi Colin,

nice to see that the TMS has finally got round to show topical pictures and even better that it is using the existing resource of Richard Lomas' pictures.

But, could the person administrating that section please edit the pictures first and then put online them? They are still the full size, up to 3072 x 2048 pixels and are just shown in a small version. At up to 1.5 GB they take far too long to load, even with high-speed internet. Ideally, there would be a small version on the homepage itself which is clickable for the bigger picture to appear in a new window just like on Richard's blog.

Kind regards

Christoph

Christoph

We are grateful to Richard Lomas for sharing his pictures with the Museum but you should also note the invitation to others to share theirs too.

I will forward your comment on accessibility, size and presentation of pictures to the people concerned.

The website will be changed in a few weeks in any case. It is some years since it was built and the changes are designed to give it a different feel although most of the existing features will continue.

The original purpose of the site was to enable the sale of photos from our archive and for many reasons that was never successful. If you like its publicity value came to be seen later and we know it is an early port of call for many of our customers.
